Hello to all of you...It's hard to believe that my 2009 Baffin Season is already over and ended with some great artificial lure fishing...and my season in Port O'Connor has started with some great action and easy limits of trout while wading with croakers.
I want to thank all of you that came down to Baffin and fished with me this year...overall we had a fair to tough year down there with numbers of trout caught due to the continuous high winds and drought, but success was had with us finishing the year with 33 trout over 28 inches landed and a few others that were lost at the net. The heaviest trout this year was 10 lbs 3 ounces. I want to say a big "Thank You" to Roger and Annette at Bluff's Landing Marina for their hospitality of me and my guest. They run a first class place and I will continue running my trips out of there in 2010. It is a little early, but if any of you want to go ahead and get your Baffin date for next year, please send me an email. I have already booked some for next year and don't want any of you to miss out.
I moved back to Port O'Connor this past weekend and kicked off my season on Monday...all i can say is that the fishing is great if wading along our shorelines over sand and grass with croaker. Limits of trout up to 26" and many others in the 20-24" range has been the norm for us this week. I would like to thank Robbie and Marie at Boathouse Bait for taking care of all my bait needs and having the best croaker in town. If you are in Port O'Connor and looking for the best live bait in town, look them up. If you are wanting to fish with me in POC it's not too late, I still have a few dates left for this summer fishing and they are listed below.
Also, on tournament news...I fished the final Texas Trout Series in Port Aransas held by Texas Saltwater Series and got 4th place and my partner Mark Robinson and I ended up 5th place team of the year in 2009. The Trout Series is over now and we are smack dab in the middle of the Texas Redfish Series. We have had 2 tournaments thus far and finished high enough to be in the money in Port Aransas and Rockport both, and have 3 more to go...My partner Rocky and I got 26th place out of 133 teams in Port Aransas and most recently got 4th place out of 128 teams in Rockport. Our next stop will be in Freeport, which will be tough for us...neither of us have ever fished that area, so it should be interesting, but fun!!! I want to thank Phil Ditto with "Got Tail", Billy Gerke with "Foreverlast" and my father-in-law Johnny Jank and wonderful wife Meg with "Golden Crescent Communications" for sponsoring us in these tournaments. Also, Jimmy Burns at "Waterloo Rods" and Brandan Frederick at "The Tackle Box of Victoria" for their continuous support and sponsorship.
