Nov 1, 2007 - Duck Season is Here!
Well it's time to put away the rods and reels and pull out the shotguns...Duck Season opens this Saturday Morning!!! The past few weeks of fishing has been good-great for redfish and the trout action has been like a roller coaster ride...great one day...then very slow the next. Mostly due to very low tides one day then extremely high tides the next as well as a continuous north and east winds and also a full moon. This past Friday we had our Annual CCA Guides Cup Tournament in POC. We had great weather and caught a lot of fish, just not the ones we needed...Last year my team ended up in 2nd place overall and won 1st place heaviest redfish. This year my team placed 5th overall and won 2nd heaviest trout. I want to thank Shaun Blackmon for purchasing me at the CCA banquet as his guide for this tournament. We had a great time and day of fishing. Congrats to Capt Mark Robinson for pulling it out this year with top stringer. Mark is a great guide and runs trips for me out of POC and Baffin. He has been a great addition to my team this past year and we will continue to work together in years to come. The team's heaviest 3 trout and 2 reds are weighed in at this tournament and all fish must be caught on artificial lures.

Looking ahead we will be focusing on ducks for quite some time now until we get back to fishing down in Baffin at the end of January. It's not too late to get your duck hunt reserved and I still have some great open dates.
